Attending BCTC was a great experience during the limited time I attended classes a couple of years ago. Professors were truly accommodating and encouraging. After needing to withdraw from a class due to financial situations, the teacher there really gave me the courage to retake the class and that is my plan. I wish I had become more involved with the experiences and opportunities that surrounded me at the time. Since reapplying, I am striving to apply myself more into the student life at BCTC. I know current and former students who truly enjoy and thrive there and I am hoping to add myself to that list this year.

I think I would be an ideal candidate for this scholarship because I have gone to bctc since I was 16. I used to take dual credit classes full time at bctc with the program, Opportunity of Middle college. I absolutely loved the campus and atmosphere so much I decided to complete my associates here before transferring to EKU. I think I contribute to building a more inclusive and diverse campus because I am Canada and moved to the USA when I was 3 years old because of my dads job. But since becoming a citizen I have really loved the US and have loved going to school in Kentucky, with also having some of my best moments in school at BCTC. I have since recommended friends to come to BCTC such as one of my friends from Venezuela. I have also recommended my friends in high school to joining Opportunity of middle college to try BCTC out. Overall I think I'm a very ideal candidate for a scholarship because of my love for learning and furthering my education.

So far with my experience. There has been a lot of cultural connections. Bluegrass Community Technical College is big on diversity. They want to see you be successful. The campus food was low because they don't have a cafeteria so they cater food inconsistently. Some of the professors don't speak the best English so it is hard to understand them. Although they are passionate about there job and look like they want to be there everyday. We also do not have a sport team. We have intermurals and those are fun in the fall we do flag football and in the summer they do basketball. It is very fun this campus engages with you and wants you to succeed inside and outside of the classroom. On top of all that the tuition is lower than a 4 year college so you can get your general out of the way for less. I would definitely recommend going to BCTC to anyone starting off college or just getting your associates degree.
