How do I close my account, delete my account, or update my account? – College Board Support (2024)

You may request that College Board (1) disable your account and delete certain of your information, (2) simply close/deactivate/cancel your account, or (3) assist you with updating information in your account that you are unable to update on your own.

Disabling Your Account and Deleting Your Data

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights such as the right to request erasure or deletion of your personally identifiable information. Please see College Board’s Privacy Statement for further details on where these rights may be available. To exercise these rights, please complete the Your Privacy Choices webform, contact us via email at [emailprotected], write to us at the U.S. address below, or contact our Customer Service team at 844-849-3551. If you request that your College Board account be deleted or disabled, College Board will interpret that as a request to delete your personal data. If College Board deletes your data, the impact includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • you will no longer be able to access your account now or in the future as it cannot be reinstated;
  • if applicable, you will no longer be able to see and send any of your test scores (e.g., SAT, AP Exam(s), CLEP);
  • if you have applied for and/or been approved for testing accommodations, all associated data, applications, and approvals will be deleted;
  • your CSS Profile application, if any, and the associated data and records will be deleted and no longer available for you to send to colleges or institutions;
  • you will lose your ability to complete any applications you may have started, such as financial aid applications, fee waiver applications, or test registrations;
  • if you participate in Student Search Service, you will be removed from Student Search Service; and
  • you will lose access to any activities or programs in which you may be currently participating or have previously participated in with College Board (e.g., access to college lists or other information you may have saved, practice tests, etc.).

If you have multiple College Board accounts (which is a violation of College Board’s security policy), all those accounts will be consolidated, resulting in the data associated with all those accounts being deleted. Once your account data, including any associated scores, are deleted, they cannot be reinstated. All deletions are final and permanent.

Closing/Deactivating/Cancelling Your Account

To simply close/deactivate an account, please contact our Customer Service team at 844-849-3551, submit a request through Your Privacy Choices webform, or write to us at the U.S. address below. If you request that your College Board account be cancelled, College Board will interpret that as a request to close/deactivate your account. Please know that if you close/deactivate your account, you won’t be able to see or send any of your test scores, access your college lists or any other information you’ve saved, or access other resources only available through a College Board account, as applicable. Within 10 days, you’ll also be unsubscribed from our marketing communications. You will also be removed from Student Search Service, if applicable.

If you have multiple College Board accounts (which is a violation of College Board’s security policy), all those accounts will be consolidated and the account that remains will be closed/deactivated.

If you still want to close/deactivate your account, please contact our Customer Service team at 844-849-3551, submit a request through Your Privacy Choices webform, or write to us at the U.S. address below. You may request that College board reactivate your account at a future date.

Impact to Student Search Service

If you close/deactivate your account or College Board honors your request to disable your account and delete your data, we will remove you from Student Search Service if applicable, as noted above. Colleges who have already contacted you may continue to send you communications. If you’re continuing to hear from a program you’re not interested in, we recommend you opt out of that organization’s communications directly. You can typically opt out or unsubscribe from future mailings at the bottom of the organization’s email or on their website.

Updating Information in Your Account

You may want to update information in your account, such as your legal name and date of birth, that you are unable to update on your own. To make such updates, please contact Customer Service at 844-849-3551 or submit a request through Your Privacy Choices webform. You should not request to delete your account in order to create a new account with different information if what you really need assistance with is updating the information in your current account.
