Haris Rauf, the Pakistani cricket sensation, has been making waves in the world of cricket with his exceptional bowling skills. His journey from playing tennis ball cricket to becoming one of the premier pacers in international cricket is nothing short of inspiring. Dinesh Karthik, the Indian keeper-batter, lauded Rauf's talent, on the sidelines of The Hundred. "Few years ago he was playing tennis ball cricket. Gets picked up by the Qalandars, becomes a part of their team, and academy and then goes on to play the league and then has obviously gone on to do so well for Pakistan. He is arguably one of the better white ball bowlers going around in world cricket now, especially at the death," Karthik said on Sky Sports on the sidelines of the match.
Rauf made his domestic debut for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. His international debut came in January 2020, and since then, he has become a mainstay of Pakistan's white-ball teams. In less than three years, he has played 62 T20Is and claimed 83 wickets at an average of 21.71.
Several notable performances have marked Rauf's rise to prominence. He bowled his fastest delivery of 159 kmph during the T20 World Cup against England. In PSL 2023, he bowled a delivery clocked at 154kph, the fastest of the tournament. His impressive figures of 3-34 in the same match further underscored his prowess as a fast bowler.
Rauf's journey has not been without challenges. Before his cricket career took off, he had to juggle his studies and a part-time job as a salesman. However, his selection by the Lahore Qalandars, a Pakistan Super League franchise, marked a turning point in his career.
